They also offer multiple inner compartments and, depending on the model, additional features like a water bottle holder or a shoe compartment. To withstand various weather conditions, almost all backpacks are made from water-repellent materials and often come equipped with waterproof zippers. Doughnut has also experimented with various materials to create several ultra-lightweight models, which enhance carrying comfort due to their reduced weight.     Doughnut’s most popular backpack models are undoubtedly the Macaroon and Colorado. While the Macaroon is primarily designed for everyday use, such as at university, the Colorado stands out with its rugged outdoor look. The Macaroon is available in several sizes, including the Macaroon (16L) and Macaroon Large Cordura (18L). The model is made from water-repellent cotton twill and features genuine leather details that are vegetable-tanned without harmful chemicals. It includes a padded laptop and tablet compartment, as well as numerous inner pockets for better organisation of contents. The Colorado is offered in two sizes: Colorado Cordura (21L) and Colorado Small (15L). It is made from water-repellent 600D nylon and features a carry handle and trims crafted from biologically dyed, genuine leather. Additionally, it comes with a waterproof security zip for the main compartment. The laptop/tablet compartment is accessible from the outside. The backpack also includes multiple inner pockets to make finding items easier. Its features include padded and ventilated backpack straps, a back cushion for optimal carrying comfort, a detachable chest strap, and a lid with a decorative climbing rope-inspired element.

    A shared passion for travel and functional design aesthetics inspired two students, who met at the University of Hong Kong, to start designing their own backpacks. Both came from families running handbag manufacturing businesses, making it a natural step to use their families' workshops to create their first backpack designs. What began as a fun project quickly evolved into a successful business, thanks to word of mouth and a solid reputation since its founding in 2007. Initially, Doughnut focused on the Japanese market, known for its high standards in production and quality. Today, the brand distributes its products in over 25 countries worldwide.
