As it is a natural product, cotton travel bags are breathable. However, cotton models are more permeable to water than softside luggage made of synthetic materials. Impregnation is necessary for a water-repellent layer. Many versions are made of canvas: the material is usually consists of cotton. The fabric is characterized by its strength: canvas can withstand heavy weights without tearing. It is breathable and water-repellent. One of its advantages is the colour-fastness: even after years of use, the canvas bags do not fade. Leather travel bags are particularly impressive due to their elegant appearance, but are hardly suitable for large-sized luggage due to their high weight. Combination of different materials

Care Tips

Synthetic fabrics

Bags made of synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester are very easy to care for. Light dirt can be wiped off with a damp cloth. Make sure that the water is lukewarm, otherwise, you can damage the material. Nylon softside luggage can be cleaned by hand. Your polyester suitcase should be dry-cleaned if it is very soiled. Soft-shell suitcases and travel bags made of imitation leather are best wiped with a damp, soft cloth. Let them air dry afterwards.

Natural materials

Small luggage made of cotton can be washed inside out with water that is up to 30 degrees warm. Waterproof, impregnated cotton bags should not be cleaned in the washing machine – this will destroy the protective layer. The dirt on the softside luggage made of canvas can be removed with lukewarm water and mild soap. Caution is advised with leather luggage. Depending on the type of leather, cleaning with a damp cloth (smooth leather) or with a brush or cleaning rubber (suede) is recommended. In the case of heavy soiling, you should use suitable care products. Important: Leather luggage should be stored in air-permeable cotton bags when not in use.
