    In bike bags you can comfortably store all you need for your next tour – from provisions and change of clothes to technical gadgets. Bike bags can be categorized according to their mounting place and are generally divided into models for daily use and sports activities. Handlebar or pannier bags are suitable for both sports and everyday activities. Saddle or frame bags are made for sportsmen: thanks to their attachment to the seat or top tube, they do not disturb the weight distribution or the riding performance. However, there is no reason why they should not be used for everyday activities. The capacity of bike bags makes the main difference: the smaller models include handlebar, saddle and frame bags, while bike panniers (single, double or triple versions) belong to the spacious models. On the other hand, it provides quick access to the contents, as it is attached directly to the handlebars. Additional front bags provide more space: it is a good option when a lot of weight must be distributed.

    Variants for sportsmen

    Sporty pannier bags are suitable for different bike types, such as mountain bikes for rough terrain or racing bikes for bicycle races. A saddle or frame bag is the first choice when it comes to mountain bikes and racing bikes. Sportbikes usually do not have a rack, so bike panniers are excluded. Saddle bags and frame bags are very light and small, and therefore do not affect speed or manoeuvrability. To a special category of bike bags belong saddlebags, which are directly attached to the seat tube. These models are often larger than standard variants and can hold up to 9 kg. A frame bag is also suitable for active riders: it is available in the classic version as a triangular bag or as an elongated, rectangular model. As the name suggests, it is fixed to the bicycle frame – either between the top tube and the seat tube, on all three tubes or on the top tube only.     Practical extras and bags for special bikes

    You can upgrade your bike bag with some additional extras. Make sure that the carrying straps are completely stowable – if they hang loosely, they can get caught in the spokes and possibly cause a crash. Practical are bike panniers with roll-top closure: they allow the storage capacity to be increased or reduced. Many pannier bags are equipped with an anti-theft device. Thanks to it you don't have to remove your bike bag every time you park. A lockable bike case made of shock-resistant plastic is also very secure. It is quickly fixed at the carrier. Special models of a bike case include designs for e-bikes (bicycles with electric motors). On these bikes, the battery is placed either directly under the rack or on the down-tube, so that suitable bike bags are designed in such a way they can be attached safely and easily. For example, the fastening systems are equipped with thinner rods or hooks to fit well between the rack and the battery.

    Mounting systems

    A good bike bag is characterized by uncomplicated and strong mounting solutions and is easy to attach and detach. This feature is most important for variants of a folding bike. It should not take a long time to mount and dismount them, because you also have to fold the bike afterwards. The fastening systems can vary greatly from brand to brand. The simplest methods include clip and velcro fasteners: many frames and saddle bags are equipped with these fixing systems. In this case, you don't need any additional hardware for mounting: but front panniers often require a special carrier type, the so-called lowrider. Most bike bags are equipped with hook and click fasteners. The clips are attached to the struts – mostly without any tools. But some fastening systems with click mechanisms require corresponding adapters or rails to which the bags are hooked. Otherwise, there are also mounting systems with clamps: the bags are screwed to the metal struts. It takes a little longer to release them than using a bag with a click system.
