  This criterion includes socially acceptable production conditions and a transparent value chain for the products. In addition to internationally regulated social standards, there are a number of specific measures that are initiated and implemented by the manufacturers.

  production in the local area

  The local production is characterised by shorter transport routes and thus a reduction in CO2 emissions. Further advantages are the transparent supply chains and the establishment or preservation of local jobs.

  recycled material

  This criterion includes products with materials made from already used ingredients that have been processed into new fabrics. For example, many sustainable bags are made from ocean plastics: their production causes fewer emissions.

  vegan

  Items with no components of animal origin are labelled "vegan".
