    Osprey is a backpack brand from the USA. It offers outdoor backpacks for hiking, climbing and cycling as well as daypacks in unisex look. Compact hiking backpacks, such as the Osprey Hikelite with a capacity of 32 litres, are also available as unisex versions. By contrast, larger trekking backpacks are offered in two versions, for men and women. This has ergonomic benefits: Whether an Osprey women's backpack or a special version for men, these models are adapted to the anatomical differences and ensure a perfect fit. The popular Osprey Archeon series impresses not only with its anatomically correct fit, but also with environmentally friendly materials. Osprey Archeon backpacks are made from recycled nylon canvas and coated with a PFC-free water-repellent finish. Compared to the compact Osprey Hikelite, the largest backpack in this series is nothing for minimalists. With its volume of 70 liters, it can hold everything you need for tours lasting several days – and even a little more! The maximum volume of the Osprey women's backpack measures 65 litres. But even then, an Osprey backpack does not become a burden: the adjustable back plate allows it to be individually adjusted. Smaller Osprey backpacks from the Archeon series have a practical roll top closure, so they can be expanded if necessary. This clever feature is often used in travel backpacks. A padded carrying system and a separate laptop compartment are other typical features of travel-friendly Osprey backpacks. Some travel backpacks, including the Osprey Farpoint, offer multiple carrying options thanks to retractable shoulder straps and a side handle. Spacious versions of Osprey Farpoint come with an additional, removable daypack. You can recognize cabin-compatible Osprey backpacks by the trolley strap on the back. They also usually offer several carrying options and convince with a scan-proof RFID pocket. Osprey's travel range includes backpacks on wheels, trolleys and travel bags.


    Sporty or minimalistic, with a roll top closure or classic U-shaped opening, the Osprey range of daypacks also leaves nothing to be desired. Ospray backpacks for everyday use are characterized by padded shoulder straps and a clever layout. In addition to many pockets and zippered compartments, every Ospray backpack has a padded laptop section. Most Osprey daypacks are equipped with an AirScape carrying system, a contact back with integrated foam strips. These provide good air circulation and excellent carrying comfort. Sporty versions feature ventilated carrying systems, such as the Osprey Radial with its AirSpeed mesh back. This breathable system can be individually adjusted. The Osprey Radial is designed for commuters and active cyclists. It features therefore a light holder and an attachment for a bicycle helmet. Thanks to the built-in stretch pleat, this Osprey backpack can expand from 26 to 34 litres.

    The company story of Osprey

    1974 is the year Osprey was founded. The brand name highlights the unique connection to nature at every outdoor experience. The company founder Mike Pfotenhauer, a passionate nature lover, was already working on comfortable hiking backpacks as a teenager because he was not satisfied with the existing models. Later he founded a backpack company and focused at the beginning on custom-made products that were so successful that he switched to mass production within a very short time. But even with higher product volumes, the focus continued to be on robust and field-proven designs. In 1976, Osprey developed a breathable mesh back panel. The US-brand belongs to the first outdoor suppliers that provided women's specific backpacks (1993). Osprey innovations also include the adjustable hip belt with a custom moulding function that adapts to the body shape of the user (2005). In addition to functionality, the label focuses on sustainability. Osprey is a member of EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) and official partner of the German Hiking Association.
